Product Information

Looking for something different than typical wood blinds? Want better visibility to the outside but still want flexible light and privacy control at your fingertips? Our 2 1/2" Performance Wood Blinds are perfectly proportioned for larger windows and to provide a less-obstructed view for any window in your home. Made from lightweight yet durable American basswood, these blinds can be customized in a variety of ways for function and for style. Each blind is custom cut in the color of your choice and then assembled with your chosen features.  Choose between standard cordless lift and wand tilt operation for simple, easy-to-use raising and lowering of the blind and for rotating the slats.  Looking for convenience and that extra wow factor? Upgrade to motorized lift and tilt? A rechargeable motor inside the blind does all the work for you with a push of a button on the multi-channel remote control.  It's a perfect solution for operating multiple blinds at once and for elevated or hard-to-reach windows. Round out your selection with either standard ladder cords or optional cloth tapes for extra light blocking and a splash of color.

How to Measure

How to Measure: Inside Mount

3 min read

Let's make sure an inside mount will work for your window!  Using a metal tape measure, first check if you have sufficient depth:

  • Measure inside the window opening from the back of the window to the front of the opening where the blind would mount. The depth at the top of the window must be at least 1 5/8" to mount the brackets. To have a flush mount (meaning the blind and valance are fully recessed in the window opening) the depth must be at least 4 1/8". If your depth is not sufficient for mounting the brackets, please see our outside mount instructions or consider a different product.

How to Measure:

Let's start with the Width:

  • Measure inside of the window opening/frame from left to right to the nearest 1/8" at three places: at the top of the opening, the middle of the opening, and then the bottom of the opening. Write down all 3 measurements and circle the narrowest. If rounding is necessary, round down to the nearest 1/8".  That is your ordering width.

Now, let's do the Height:

  • Measure the inside of the window opening/frame from the top of the opening to the bottom of the opening/sill to the nearest 1/8" in three places: on the left-hand side, the middle, and on the right-hand side. Write down all 3 measurements and circle the tallest. That is your ordering height.

Note: Always provide us with the actual measurement of the window opening. We will make the necessary deduction of approximately 1/2" to your blind's width to allow room for installation and for proper movement of the blind within the window opening. No deductions will be made to your height.

How to Measure: Outside Mount

3 min read

Before you start measuring, decide where above your window opening you want to mount your blind. To mount the brackets, you will need at least 2". The blind can be installed directly above the window opening, or higher up to give the appearance of a larger window and to have more clear space in the window when the blind is raised.

If you have trim around the window, you can mount the blind above the trim, directly on the trim (if you have the required minimum flat space for the brackets), or to the sides of the trim if you do not have enough mounting space above the window or on the trim itself. See the directions below for how you'd like to install your blind.

If you do not have sufficient vertical space for mounting the brackets, please see our inside mount instructions or consider a different product.

Width:

  • Looking at your window and surrounding wall, decide what area you would like to cover. We recommend the blind extends about 2" on each side of the window opening for the best light control and appearance.
  • Using a metal tape measure, measure from left to right including your desired extra space on each side of the window—that is your ordering width.

Height:

  • Consider how far above the window you would like to install your blind but at least starting with the minimum vertical space referenced above. The blind can be positioned higher up to give the appearance of a larger window and to have more clear space in the window when the blind is raised.
  • Measure from the top of where you will mount the blind on the wall down to where you want the bottom of the blind to be, using the same extra space below your window opening as you used above; if you have a protruding windowsill, measure down to the top of the sill. That is your ordering height.

Width:

  • Looking at your window and surrounding wall, decide what area you would like to cover. We recommend the blind extends about 2" on either side of the window opening for the best light control and appearance. You can also choose to have the blind the same width as your window trim.
  • Using a metal tape measure, measure from left to right including any desired extra space on each side of the window—that is your ordering width.

Height:

  • Consider how far above the window you would like to install your blind but at least starting with the minimum vertical space referenced above. The blind can be positioned higher up to give the appearance of a larger window and to have more clear space in the window when the blind is raised.
  • Measure from the top of where you will mount the blind on the wall down to where you want the bottom of the blind to be, using the same extra space below your window opening as you used above, or to the bottom edge of the trim if you prefer; if you have a protruding windowsill, measure down to the top of the sill. That is your ordering height.

Note: We provide complimentary spacer blocks upon request. These go behind the installation brackets to position the blind away from the wall and prevent the blind from hitting the frame. Spacer blocks add an additional 3/8" of depth for installation. Note that the valance returns (the side pieces that wrap around the headrail) will be made 3/8" longer when requesting spacer blocks.

Width:

  • Confirm that the height of your trim is at least the minimum height required for installing the mounting brackets. At the top of your window, use a steel measuring tape and measure from outer edge to outer edge of the trim.  That is your ordering width.

Height:

  • Measure from the top of your trim to the bottom of your trim or to the top of the windowsill if you have a protruding sill. That is your ordering height.

Width:

  • Using a metal tape measure, measure left to right from the outside edge of the trim piece that goes around the glass to the other outside edge. That is your ordering width. However, if you have space, it is best to order the blind about 2" wider for better light control.

Height:

  • Consider how far above the window trim piece you would like to install your blind but at least starting with the minimum vertical space referenced above. Measure down to where you want the bottom of the blind to be, using the same extra space below the window trim piece as you used above. That is your ordering height.

Note: We carry complimentary hold-downs (door brackets) which can be requested during the ordering process. These should be installed for a successful door mount as they secure the blind at the bottom of the door so that it does not swing when the door opens and closes.

Premium 2 1/2-Inch Performance Wood Blinds

Our 2 1/2-Inch Performance Wood Blinds are crafted from high-grade basswood and built to meet high expectations for both beauty and durability. Unlike many faux wood blinds, these real wood blinds offer a lighter weight construction, richer grain detail, and a more refined finish. While faux wood can be a practical choice in high-humidity areas, genuine real wood provides warmth and character that elevate the rest of your home.

Each blind is designed with coordinated hardware, reinforced components, and a contoured bottom rail for smooth daily use. The included decorative valance completes the look and helps create a clean, finished appearance across the top of your window. If you're comparing faux wood blinds to real wood ones, you'll quickly find that the natural texture and depth of real wood provides a higher level of style and perceived quality.

Flexible Control Options & Everyday Convenience

These wood blinds are available with multiple control options to suit your needs. Choose a cordless lift system for a safer, streamlined look, or upgrade to motorization for added convenience. The cordless design helps create a clean finish and makes the blinds a smart option for homes with kids or pets.

The tilt mechanism allows precise light adjustment, and thoughtful engineering ensures smooth operation from the left side or right side, depending on configuration. Durable components and precision hardware contribute to long-term durability while maintaining consistent performance. Whether you prefer manual adjustment or automated control, these wood blinds are built for everyday ease.

Ideal Rooms, Moisture Considerations & Style

The wide 2.5-inch slats create a bold, modern look that works beautifully in living areas, offices, and bedrooms. These wood blinds are an ideal choice for larger windows where proportion and balance matter more. The wider slats allow more light when open and provide strong privacy when closed, helping transform any room with improved control and visual appeal.

While real wood adds unmatched style, some customers may consider faux wood blinds or faux wood alternatives in high-moisture spaces like a bathroom or kitchen. Faux wood blinds are often marketed as moisture-resistant, but in dry interior environments, real wood blinds deliver superior style and warmth. If you're unsure which material fits your needs, you can find helpful guidance through our customer support team before you order.

Custom Sizing, Price & What to Expect

Every set of wood products is built to your exact specifications. These custom blinds are cut and assembled to fit your window dimensions precisely, helping ensure a professional finish. Despite their premium construction and durability, they remain competitively positioned in both quality and price, offering a strong balance of value and craftsmanship.

Before you order, review the detailed specifications and confirm your measurements. Once your order is placed, your blinds are carefully assembled and shipped with protective packaging to maintain their condition in transit. From the included valance to the coordinated hardware, every component is built to meet high expectations for performance and appearance.

FAQ

Are faux wood blinds better for bathrooms and kitchens?

Faux wood blinds are typically recommended for high-humidity areas like bathrooms or kitchens because faux wood is moisture-resistant. If your window is exposed to frequent humidity, faux wood blinds can be a practical option. However, in dry interior spaces, real wood may offer a richer appearance and elevated style. Choosing between faux wood and real wood depends on where the blinds will be set up and the overall look you want to match in the room.

Do you offer custom sizing for these blinds?

Yes, all of our blinds are custom-built to your exact specifications. When you order, we manufacture your blinds to your requested width and height to ensure a precise fit. Custom sizing helps improve overall quality, performance, and appearance compared to standard off-the-shelf products. This ensures the blinds properly match your window and design goals.

Are cordless options available?

Yes, we offer cordless lift systems across all of our products. A cordless design creates a clean look, improves safety for kids and pets, and eliminates dangling cords. Cordless blinds are a great way to add convenience while maintaining style and functionality in any home. Multiple control options are available, so you can choose the best way to operate your blinds.

How does the price compare to other blind products?

Our blinds are competitively priced while maintaining strong quality standards. The price reflects the materials used, custom manufacturing, and durable construction. Compared to some faux-wood blinds, real-wood options may have a slightly higher price, but many customers feel the elevated style and finish are worth it. We aim to provide great value across all of our window treatment products.

Can I match these blinds with other sizes like 1 3/8" or 2" inch options?

Yes, if you are coordinating different windows throughout your home, you can match this 2 1/2-inch style with our other Performance Wood Blinds, available in 1 3/8" and 2 1/2" slat sizes. This allows you to maintain a consistent look while adjusting proportions for each room. Adding a coordinating valance and choosing the same finish makes it easy to create a unified style throughout your home.
