Product Information
The newest addition to Blindster's wood blinds assortment includes popular standard features as well as several sought-after upgrades not generally available in other wood blinds collections. First, our Performance Wood Blinds come standard with matching decorative valance and color coordinated hardware for a streamlined look. The standard control options include easy-to-operate cordless lift and wand tilter; raise the blind up or down by just pushing or pulling on the contoured bottom rail. The matching wooden tilt wand is hexagonal shaped that's easier to grip than round wands and easily rotates the slats open or closed for privacy and light control. But if you're looking for the ultimate in convenience and sophistication, then upgrade to the motorized lift/tilt option! Rotate the slats effortlessly to open and close or raise and lower the blind via remote control – you can even operate multiple blinds at once! Add optional cloth tapes for a distinctive accent to complement your decor.

How to Measure
How to Measure: Inside Mount
3 min read
Let's make sure an inside mount will work for your window! Using a metal tape measure, first check if you have sufficient depth:
- Measure inside the window opening from the back of the window to the front of the opening where the blind would mount. The depth at the top of the window must be at least 1 5/8" to mount the brackets. To have a flush mount (meaning the blind and valance are fully recessed in the window opening) the depth must be at least 3 5/8". If your depth is not sufficient for mounting the brackets, please see our outside mount instructions or consider a different product.
How to Measure:
Let's start with the Width:
- Measure inside of the window opening/frame from left to right to the nearest 1/8" at three places: at the top of the opening, the middle of the opening, and then the bottom of the opening. Write down all 3 measurements and circle the narrowest. If rounding is necessary, round down to the nearest 1/8". That is your ordering width.
Now, let's do the Height:
- Measure the inside of the window opening/frame from the top of the opening to the bottom of the opening/sill to the nearest 1/8" in three places: on the left-hand side, the middle, and on the right-hand side. Write down all 3 measurements and circle the tallest. That is your ordering height.
Note: Always provide us with the actual measurement of the window opening. We will make the necessary deduction of approximately 1/2" to your blind's width to allow room for installation and for proper movement of the blind within the window opening. No deductions will be made to your height.
How to Measure: Outside Mount
3 min read
Before you start measuring, decide where above your window opening you want to mount your blind. To mount the brackets, you will need at least 2". The blind can be installed directly above the window opening, or higher up to give the appearance of a larger window and to have more clear space in the window when the blind is raised.
If you have trim around the window, you can mount the blind above the trim, directly on the trim (if you have the required minimum flat space for the brackets), or to the sides of the trim if you do not have enough mounting space above the window or on the trim itself. See the directions below for how you'd like to install your blind.
If you do not have sufficient vertical space for mounting the brackets, please see our inside mount instructions or consider a different product.
Width:
- Looking at your window and surrounding wall, decide what area you would like to cover. We recommend the blind extends about 2" on each side of the window opening for the best light control and appearance.
- Using a metal tape measure, measure from left to right including your desired extra space on each side of the window—that is your ordering width.
Height:
- Consider how far above the window you would like to install your blind but at least starting with the minimum vertical space referenced above. The blind can be positioned higher up to give the appearance of a larger window and to have more clear space in the window when the blind is raised.
- Measure from the top of where you will mount the blind on the wall down to where you want the bottom of the blind to be, using the same extra space below your window opening as you used above; if you have a protruding windowsill, measure down to the top of the sill. That is your ordering height.
Width:
- Looking at your window and surrounding wall, decide what area you would like to cover. We recommend the blind extends about 2" on either side of the window opening for the best light control and appearance. You can also choose to have the blind the same width as your window trim.
- Using a metal tape measure, measure from left to right including any desired extra space on each side of the window—that is your ordering width.
Height:
- Consider how far above the window you would like to install your blind but at least starting with the minimum vertical space referenced above. The blind can be positioned higher up to give the appearance of a larger window and to have more clear space in the window when the blind is raised.
- Measure from the top of where you will mount the blind on the wall down to where you want the bottom of the blind to be, using the same extra space below your window opening as you used above, or to the bottom edge of the trim if you prefer; if you have a protruding windowsill, measure down to the top of the sill. That is your ordering height.
Note: We provide complimentary spacer blocks upon request. These go behind the installation brackets to position the blind away from the wall and prevent the blind from hitting the frame. Spacer blocks add an additional 3/8" of depth for installation. Note that the valance returns (the side pieces that wrap around the headrail) will be made 3/8" longer when requesting spacer blocks.
Width:
- Confirm that the height of your trim is at least the minimum height required for installing the mounting brackets. At the top of your window, use a steel measuring tape and measure from outer edge to outer edge of the trim. That is your ordering width.
Height:
- Measure from the top of your trim to the bottom of your trim or to the top of the windowsill if you have a protruding sill. That is your ordering height.
Width:
- Using a metal tape measure, measure left to right from the outside edge of the trim piece that goes around the glass to the other outside edge. That is your ordering width. However, if you have space, it is best to order the blind about 2" wider for better light control.
Height:
- Consider how far above the window trim piece you would like to install your blind but at least starting with the minimum vertical space referenced above. Measure down to where you want the bottom of the blind to be, using the same extra space below the window trim piece as you used above. That is your ordering height.
Note: We carry complimentary hold-downs (door brackets) which can be requested during the ordering process. These should be installed for a successful door mount as they secure the blind at the bottom of the door so that it does not swing when the door opens and closes.

Premium Craftsmanship & Material Quality
Our 2-inch Performance Wood Blinds are crafted from real wood material sourced directly from the factory, delivering very good quality and long-lasting durability. Unlike a faux wood blind, genuine wood blinds offer a lighter structure, smoother finish, and a more elegant appearance that works beautifully in both modern and traditional interiors. The natural wood grain and stains vary slightly from blind to blind, giving each window treatment a unique pattern that enhances the room.
These great blinds are designed to resist fading and minimize warping when installed in dry interior spaces. The solid slats, coordinated valance, and precision-cut trim provide a professional finish, whether you choose an inside mount or outside mount. If you’re looking for good quality at a competitive price, this collection delivers great value without sacrificing style.
Designed for Modern Living & Light Control
The 2-inch slats offer superior control of light compared to smaller sizes. Easily adjust the tilt using the smooth wand to filter light exactly how you prefer, whether you’re creating privacy in a bedroom or brightening a dining room. The cordless design eliminates dangling pull cords, keeping the look clean and modern.
These wood blinds are ideal for above a door, along a wall, or across wide openings where consistent blind height and ordered width matter for a seamless look. The contoured bottom rail allows you to raise and lower the shade smoothly while maintaining alignment across multiple blinds and shades in the same space. With proper installation, they provide excellent coverage and light management in every room.
Easy Measuring, Ordering & Installation
Ordering custom wood blinds is simple. Provide your ordered width and blind height based on your window opening measurements and according to our instructions, and we handle any necessary adjustments. Always measure depth carefully for inside mount applications to ensure proper installation requirements and flush mount appearance if desired.
Whether you choose inside mount or outside mount, brackets and valance returns are designed for a clean, professional finish. Our detailed specifications outline exact width, depth, and mount requirements for reference before you purchase.
Installation is straightforward and can be completed in minutes with standard tools. For added confidence, our customer service team is available to guide you through any measurement and installation questions.
Color Samples, Shipping & What to Expect
We strongly recommend ordering a sample before final purchase. A sample allows you to compare paint or stain colors, material tone, and finish directly in your home’s light. Because wood tones vary naturally, seeing a sample next to your wall, trim, or door ensures the most elegant final result.
Samples also help confirm whether a real wood or a faux wood blind better suits your space. Many customers order multiple sample options before selecting their preferred style.
Our blinds are custom-made in our factory and shipped quickly once completed. Shipping timelines are clearly provided during checkout, and most customers note in their product review that their blinds arrived securely packaged and ready to install. White glove handling during manufacturing and careful shipping procedures help protect against damage during transit.
FAQ
What is the difference between these wood blinds and a faux wood blind?
The primary difference between real wood blinds and faux wood blinds is the material and overall finish. Real wood blinds offer a lighter weight construction, a more natural grain pattern, and a refined appearance that works beautifully in both modern and traditional interiors.
Can I choose between inside mount and outside mount installation?
Yes, these 2-inch wood blinds can be installed as either an inside mount or outside mount, depending on your window depth and design preference. Inside mount creates a recessed look within the window opening, while outside mount extends beyond the frame to provide additional cover and light control. When ordering, be sure to provide the correct ordered width and height measurements per our instructions, as our factory makes any appropriate deductions for proper fit. Always measure carefully, especially if installing near a window sill or trim.
What makes these great blinds for modern homes?
These 2-inch wood blinds feature clean lines, wide slats, and a coordinated valance that complements modern interiors while still fitting traditional spaces. The cordless design eliminates exposed cords, creating a smooth and uncluttered appearance. The included tilt wand of these wood blinds allows precise control of light, and the solid wood construction adds depth and character to any room. Whether used as a standalone blind or paired with other blinds and shades, they deliver both function and style at a competitive price.
Where can I find detailed product specifications?
You can review all specifications directly on this page, including minimum and maximum width in inches, depth requirements for installation, and detailed hardware information. The specifications section outlines bracket placement, valance dimensions, and mounting details so you can confidently install your blinds. If you need additional guidance before purchasing, our customer service team is available to assist with measurements, installation questions, or selecting the right sample.
Are these suitable for larger windows compared to other blinds/shades?
Yes, these 2-inch wood blinds are well-suited for larger windows because the wider slats provide structural stability and smooth operation. The durable factory-built construction helps prevent warping over time, and the reinforced valance adds a finished look across wider spans. Compared to lighter shades or some faux-wood blind options, real-wood blinds offer a stronger presence and more elegant style for wide openings. Reviewing a sample and confirming your ordered width ensures the blinds will properly cover your window for optimal performance.
