Before you begin
Remove the blind from the package and keep the packaging until the blind operates to your satisfaction.
Check that you have all the hardware for your blind's width.
Choose the right fasteners for your mounting surface: the included 1 1/4" hexagonal head screws for wood, wall anchors or expansion bolts for drywall or plaster, and sheet metal screws for metal (anchors, bolts and metal screws are not provided).
- Up to 37" wide: 2 installation brackets, 4 screws
- Over 37" up to 60" wide: 3 installation brackets, 6 screws
- Over 60" up to 78" wide: 4 installation brackets, 8 screws
- Every blind: 1 wand, 2 optional hold-down brackets with 2 3/4" screws
- Optional spacer blocks: 2 / 3 / 4 single layers or 4 / 6 / 8 double layers, with 4 / 6 / 8 2" screws, for the same three width ranges
- You may receive more hardware than you need; set the extras aside.
Mount the brackets
Choose an outside mount (on the wall or trim above the window) or an inside mount (inside the window frame).
Hold the blind in position and mark the bracket locations with a pencil.
Place the two end brackets 3 1/8" to 3 15/16" in from each end of the headrail.
Space any additional brackets evenly between the end brackets.
Make sure no bracket sits where it would interfere with the tilt mechanism.
Screw the brackets in place: into the wall above the window for an outside mount, or up into the top of the window frame for an inside mount.
- The inside mount diagram shows a 1 15/16" depth inside the frame for the bracket.
Add spacer blocks (outside mount only)
Use spacer blocks if the blind needs to stand farther away from the wall.
Line up the bracket holes with the spacer block holes.
Secure the bracket and spacer block to the wall with two 2" screws.
- 1 spacer block extends the bracket 3/8"
- 2 spacer blocks extend the bracket 11/16"
Install the blind
Hold the headrail gently and keep it flat; don't grab the back of the headrail or press down on the slats, which can stretch the ladders.
Push the headrail toward the brackets to activate the spring-loaded tab, and in the same motion tilt the back of the headrail down so it snaps into the brackets.
Check that the blind is secured in every bracket.
Attach the tilt wand
If you have a split wand, push the upper wand piece fully into the wand connector hole.
Insert the wand's tilt connector into the bottom of the headrail until it clicks.
Leave the wand in place once installed; don't take it down.
Attach hold-down brackets (optional)
Place each hold-down bracket against a flat surface, horizontally or vertically, parallel to the bottom rail (on the window sill or frame for an inside mount, on the wall for an outside mount).
Line up the bracket's protruding tab with the hole on the side of the bottom rail.
Fasten each bracket tightly with a 3/4" screw.
Fit both ends of the bottom rail onto the hold-down brackets to keep the blind in place.
Operate the blind
Tilt the slats: rotate the wand until the slats reach the angle you want.
Lower the blind: open the slats to any angle, keep them even, and pull the bottom rail down by hand.
Raise the blind: tilt the slats level, then lift the bottom rail up by hand.
Hold the bottom rail evenly with both hands and keep its underside pointing straight down while you raise or lower it.
Remove the blind
Insert a screwdriver into the gap at the front of the bracket.
Pry the bracket's front tab open and tilt the headrail down and out to release it from the brackets.
