Inside Mount

Plan the mount

  1. Locate the left and right box-style mounting brackets; their multiple screw holes let you top mount or side mount inside the window opening.

  2. Check the depth of the window opening: you need at least 1 1/8" to install the brackets inside the frame.

  3. For a fully flush mount, make sure you have at least 3 3/8" of depth.

  4. If the opening is deeper than 3 3/8", measure back 3 3/8" from the front edge to find where to mount the brackets, so the blind comes right up to the front of the opening without sticking out into the room.

  • Windows 48" to 84" wide: two end brackets and one center support bracket
  • Windows 84 1/8" to 96" wide: two end brackets and two center support brackets

Mount the brackets

  1. Hold one end bracket in place and mark its two screw holes with a pencil, placing the screws diagonally from each other if possible. Repeat for the other end bracket.

  2. If you have one center support bracket, position it as close to the center of the opening as possible; with two, space them as evenly as possible across the width.

  3. Mark the center support bracket screw holes using the bracket as a guide. Center support brackets must be top mounted.

  4. Pre-drill each marked hole with the 1/4" hex bit.

  5. Line up each bracket over its pre-drilled holes and drive in the mounting screws with the drill or screwdriver.

Install the headrail

  1. Place the valance clips on the headrail.

  2. Open the doors on each end bracket.

  3. Lift the blind and set the ends of the headrail into the brackets; if you have center support brackets, rest the headrail on their bottom ledge.

  4. Steady the headrail with one hand and close the bracket doors with the other to lock it in place.

Attach the tilt wand (if ordered)

  1. Pull the plastic sleeve up off the top of the wand to expose the metal hook, which stays attached to the wand.

  2. Slide the plastic sleeve up over the metal shaft sticking out of the headrail.

  3. Holding the sleeve in place, insert the wand's hook all the way through the shaft until the shaft rests in the bend of the hook.

  4. Carefully pull the plastic sleeve down to cover the hook.

Install the valance

  1. Tilt the top of the valance in at an angle and insert it into the top of the valance clips.

  2. Snap the bottom of each valance clip into the center channel at the back of the valance.

Outside Mount

Before you begin

  1. Check that you received all the parts that apply to your order.

  2. Decide whether you will mount on the trim or above the trim.

  3. If you mount above a raised trim, molding or window framing, use the extension brackets with your mounting brackets to add space between the mounting surface and the blind.

  • Windows 48" to 84" wide: 2 end brackets and 1 center support bracket
  • Windows 84 1/8" to 96" wide: 2 end brackets and 2 center support brackets

Mount the brackets

  1. Choose a flat mounting surface for the brackets.

  2. Use the outside edges of the brackets to set where the blind starts on the left and ends on the right, and measure height from the top of the bracket.

  3. Hold each end bracket in place and mark its two screw holes with a pencil, placing the screws diagonally from each other if possible.

  4. If you have one center support bracket, place it as close to the center of the window opening as possible; if you have two, space them as evenly as possible across the opening. Mark their screw holes using the bracket as a guide.

  5. Pre-drill every marked hole with the drill and 1/4" hex bit.

  6. Line each bracket up over its holes and drive in the mounting screws with the drill or a screwdriver.

  • Center support brackets must be top mounted.

Install the headrail

  1. Open the doors on each end bracket.

  2. Lift the blind and set the ends of the headrail into the brackets. If you have center supports, rest the headrail on their bottom ledge.

  3. Steady the headrail with one hand and close the doors on each bracket with the other to lock it in place.

Install the hold-down brackets

Skip this section if your order has no hold-down brackets.

  1. Screw the hold-down brackets into the lower corners of the windowsill or jamb, not too close together.

  2. Pull each hold-down bracket out and insert its pin into the pre-drilled hole in the center of each end of the bottom rail.

  • Brackets placed too close together make it hard to free the bottom rail when you want to raise and lower the blind.

Attach the tilt wand

Skip this section if you did not order a tilt wand.

  1. Pull the plastic sleeve upward off the metal hook at the top of the wand; the hook stays attached to the wand.

  2. Slide the plastic sleeve up over the metal shaft sticking out of the headrail.

  3. Holding the sleeve in place, push the wand's hook all the way through the shaft until the shaft rests in the bend of the hook.

  4. Carefully pull the plastic sleeve down to cover the hook.

Install the valance

  1. Bend the channel valance at the score on its back.

  2. Attach the valance clips to the top of the headrail, spaced evenly apart.

  3. Tilt the top of the valance in at an angle and insert it into the top of the valance clips.

  4. Snap the bottom of the valance clips into the center channel on the back of the valance.
