Before you begin
Check that your mounting hardware kit contains all the parts listed.
Gather your tools. Use a 3/32" drill bit to pre-drill for screws, or a 1/4" bit to pre-drill for wall anchors.
- Shades up to 54" wide: 2 mounting brackets
- Shades 55" to 72" wide: 3 mounting brackets
- The kit includes one extra screw of each size.
Outside mount
Place a mounting bracket on each end of the headrail. If the shade needs more than two brackets, place the extras in the center, evenly spaced.
Hold the shade level against the wall at the height you want, centered over the window.
Mark the location of each bracket on the wall with a pencil.
Lower the shade and remove the brackets from the headrail.
Position the brackets at your marks and attach them to the wall with the included 1 1/4" wood screws.
Inside mount
Place a mounting bracket on each end of the headrail.
Hold the shade in place at the top of the window frame and mark where each bracket touches the inside of the frame.
Lower the shade and remove the brackets from the headrail.
Line up the brackets with your marks and attach them inside the frame with the included 1 1/4" screws.
Secure the headrail
Lift the headrail into position on the brackets.
Place a washer and wing nut on the post of each bracket and tighten them by hand.
Give the headrail a gentle pull to make sure it is securely attached.
Operate the shade
To lower the shade, gently pull down on the lift cord while moving it toward the left side of the shade to release it.
Keep hold of the cord and let it rise slowly until the shade reaches the height you want.
Move the cord back to the right and let go to lock the shade in place.
To raise the shade, pull the cord straight down until the shade reaches the height you want, then let go. Because the cord stays on the right side, the shade stays locked.
Adjust the safety cord stops
Position the cord stops before using the shade.
Lower the shade to its maximum desired length and lock it in place.
Measure from the headrail to the cord stops. If they are 1" to 2" below the headrail, no adjustment is needed.
Otherwise, loosen the knot around the cord stop and slide the stop as close to the headrail as possible.
Pull down on the tassel to retighten the knot.
Repeat for each lift cord.
- The included cord cleat is an optional accessory.
