Before you begin
Check that the mounting hardware kit is complete.
Gather your tools: screwdriver, tape measure, pencil, drill, step ladder and spirit level.
For wallboard or plaster, get anchors designed for hollow walls (not included).
For concrete, stone or brick, get a masonry drill bit and masonry anchors or screws (not included).
Install the shade before you try to operate the motor.
- Up to 48" wide: 2 brackets
- Up to 72" wide: 3 brackets
- Use a 3/32" drill bit to pre-drill screw holes into a wall stud or header board.
Outside mount
Place a bracket on each end of the headrail, plus one in the center for larger shades (the center bracket has a shorter post than the end brackets).
Hold the shade at the height you want and center it over the window opening.
Make sure the brackets are level, using a spirit level if needed, and mark the exact location of each bracket with a pencil.
Remove the brackets from the headrail, place each one at its mark and mark the screw holes.
Pre-drill the screw holes with a 3/32" drill bit.
Screw each bracket to the wall or window molding with the 1 1/8" screws.
Inside mount
Place a bracket on each end of the headrail, plus one in the center for larger shades (the center bracket has a shorter post than the end brackets).
Hold the shade in place and mark the inside of the window frame at the rear of each bracket.
Remove the brackets from the headrail, line them up with the marks and mark the screw holes.
Pre-drill the screw holes with a 3/32" drill bit.
Attach each bracket with the 1 1/8" screws.
Secure the headrail
Lift the headrail into position on the bracket posts.
Place a washer and wing nut on the post of each bracket and tighten by hand.
Before operating the shade, carefully peel off the tape covering the lift cords on the roller tube.
Operate the shade
The upper and lower limits are set and a channel is assigned to each shade at the factory, and the motor batteries are fully charged before shipping.
Turn the motor on by pressing the program button on the motor head for 1 second; the red indicator light flashes.
Press UP or DOWN once to move the shade to the next preset position.
Press UP or DOWN twice, about one second apart, to send the shade all the way to the up or down limit without stopping.
To control several shades at once on a 6-channel remote, press the channel selector until all six lights are lit.
On a 16-channel remote, press the channel selector until "CC" shows in the display to control up to 16 shades at once.
- Once the shade reaches the up limit the UP button stops working, and at the down limit the DOWN button stops working.
Charge the battery and set up the remote
Connect the AC charger to the charger cable on the motor head and charge for 8 hours.
To replace the remote battery, remove the screw on the back cover, slide the back plate up slightly and install a 3V CR2032 disc battery.
Mount the optional remote holder with the screws provided (use wall anchors in hollow drywall), or peel the foil off its adhesive pad and press it onto any clean, flat surface.
- Charge each motor at least once every 6 months.
Program the motor (only if needed)
These settings are done at the factory and normally need no adjustment. The shade's channel number is marked on the shade and/or carton.
Select a channel: use the channel buttons to choose a dedicated channel for each shade, numbered in order starting from 1.
Pair the remote: press the PROGRAM button on the motor head (left side of the shade) until the shade jogs back and forth, then press UP on the remote; the shade jogs again to confirm.
Set the up limit: move the shade 6" to 10" below the desired top position, press PROGRAM on the back of the remote (the motor jogs), move the shade up to the desired position and press PROGRAM again.
Set the down limit: move the shade to 6" to 10" from the bottom, press PROGRAM on the back of the remote, move the shade to the desired down position and press PROGRAM again.
Set an intermediate stop (up to 4): move the shade at least 6" from any set limit, press PROGRAM, move the shade to the stop position and press PROGRAM again.
Fine-tune a limit: move the shade to that limit, press PROGRAM, adjust with UP/DOWN and press PROGRAM again.
- If nothing is pressed for 30 seconds while setting a limit, the motor exits programming mode.
Erase limits or memory
Erase a limit: move the shade to that limit and hold PROGRAM on the back of the remote for about 7 seconds until the motor jogs twice. The first (upper) limit can only be removed by deleting all memory.
Delete all memory: press the program button on the motor head 4 times about one second apart, waiting for the red LED flash after the 1st press, one flash after the 2nd, two flashes after the 3rd and two flashes after the 4th; the motor jogs when memory is erased.
Delete a single channel: set the remote to that channel, hold STOP for about 5 seconds until the motor jogs, then press PROGRAM on the back of the remote; the motor jogs again.
