Before you begin
Each bracket is attached to an installation plate with two sections of 3M mounting tape. This is a powerful, permanent adhesive, so it must be applied carefully.
Check that you have the mounting brackets, the bottom rail handle, the optional hold-down brackets and their adhesive pads.
Make sure you have the right brackets for your mount: inside mount or outside mount.
Leave the covers on the adhesive strips until all alignment and surface preparation steps are done.
Attach the brackets to the headrail
Position a bracket about 1" to 6" from each end of the headrail.
On wider shades with 3 or more brackets, space the extra bracket evenly between the two outer brackets.
Slide the inner front edge of the headrail into the slot at the front of each bracket, pushing the front of the bracket down and in.
Push the bracket down until the flexible metal tab at the bottom snaps onto the back of the headrail.
- Outside mount brackets are labeled to be installed with the arrow pointing toward the ceiling.
Prepare the surface
Make sure the surface where the brackets will go is clean, dry and flat.
Lightly rub the included alcohol pad where each bracket will attach.
Wait at least 5 minutes for the surface to dry.
Inside mount
With the brackets attached, hold the shade where you plan to mount it inside the window opening.
Make a pencil mark at the rear of each bracket plate where it touches the inside of the window frame.
Remove the brackets from the headrail.
Working one bracket at a time, peel the thin red protective layer off the adhesive pad.
Slowly and precisely align the bracket with its pencil mark, then press it into place.
Press each bracket firmly in place for at least 60 seconds.
Outside mount
With the brackets attached, hold the shade at the height you want on the wall or window frame, centered over the window opening.
Mark the exact location of each bracket with a pencil.
Remove the brackets from the headrail.
Working one bracket at a time, peel the thin red protective layer off the adhesive pad.
Slowly and precisely align the bracket with its pencil mark, then press it into place.
Press each bracket firmly in place for at least 60 seconds.
Hang the shade and attach the handle
If possible, wait at least an hour after mounting the brackets before attaching the shade.
Snap the headrail into the brackets: front edge into the bracket slots first, then snap the back tabs down.
Attach the handle to the bottom rail. The handle is designed to keep your hands off the shade fabric.
Wider shades have 2 handles: divide the shade's total width by 4 and attach one handle that distance from each outside edge.
- A single handle must be centered on the rail.
Operate the shade
To lower the shade, grip the bottom rail handle and slowly pull straight down.
To raise the shade, grip the bottom rail handle and push up slowly.
Keep the bottom rail level as you move it.
On wider shades with two handles, grasp both handles and move the shade slowly and evenly.
If the shade is hard to lift
If the shade has stayed in one position for a long time, raise and lower it several times to restore normal function.
If the shade springs back slightly after being fully raised for a long time, lower it to its full length and raise it several times.
Install the hold-down brackets (optional)
Use hold-down brackets only if the shade will stay in a permanently lowered position.
Lower the shade fully and make pencil marks at the outside ends of the bottom rail.
Peel the liner off one side of each adhesive pad and stick it to the base of a hold-down bracket.
Line the brackets up with the pencil marks, remove the liner from the other side of the pad, and press them in place.
Remove the brackets
The adhesive is permanent, so removal may damage the mounting surface. Expect to do some patching and refinishing.
Insert a knife above each mounting plate and cut through the foam tape with a sawing motion. You can also use thin wire or dental floss held in both hands.
Remove any leftover adhesive with your fingers or scrape it off with a putty knife.
Citrus solvents may soften the adhesive to help, but they will not dissolve it.
