Before you begin
Check your mounting hardware kit against the parts list.
Gather your tools: screwdriver, tape measure, pencil, drill, drill bits and step ladder.
If you are mounting into drywall or plaster, get #6 plastic anchors (not included).
- Up to 28" wide: 2 mounting brackets and 4 screws
- 28 1/8" to 44" wide: 3 mounting brackets and 6 screws
- 44 1/8" to 72" wide: 4 mounting brackets and 8 screws
- Use a 3/32" drill bit for screws and a 1/4" drill bit for wall anchors.
Position the brackets
Clip the brackets onto the headrail, placing one about 2" to 6" from each end.
If your blind needs 3 or 4 brackets, space the extra ones evenly between the two outer brackets.
Make sure no bracket interferes with the cord lock or tilter mechanism.
Outside mount
Hold the blind level at the desired height, centered over the window opening.
Mark the exact location of each bracket with a pencil.
Remove the brackets from the headrail and line the top of each bracket up with its mark.
Pre-drill the screw holes with a 3/32" drill bit.
Screw each bracket into the wall or window molding with the 1 1/4" screws.
Inside mount
Hold the blind in place inside the window frame.
Make a pencil mark at the rear of each bracket where it touches the inside of the frame.
Remove the brackets from the headrail and line them up with the marks.
Pre-drill the screw holes with a 3/32" drill bit.
Attach each bracket with the 1 1/4" screws.
Secure the headrail
Lift the headrail into position so the front edge of each bracket sits under the inner front edge of the headrail.
Push the headrail upward until the flexible tab at the bottom of each bracket snaps onto the back of the headrail.
Check carefully that each bracket is properly secured.
Attach the tilt wand
Find the ring for the tilt wand. It is recessed in the headrail for shipping and should slide out when you mount the blind; if it doesn't, reach in and pull it out with your fingers.
Hook the wand onto the ring.
Operate the blind
Rotate the slats to the open, horizontal position before raising or lowering the blind.
To lower the blind, grip the bottom rail with both hands and slowly pull straight down.
To raise the blind, put both hands under the bottom rail and push up slowly.
Keep the bottom rail level.
Install the hold-down brackets
Use hold-down brackets only if the blind will stay permanently lowered.
Lower the blind fully and make pencil marks at the outside ends of the bottom rail.
Line up the outside edge of each bracket with a mark and screw it in place with the 5/8" screws.
Insert the pins on the brackets into the holes at both ends of the bottom rail.
