Before you begin

  1. Remove the blind from the package and keep the packaging until the blind operates to your satisfaction.

  2. Check that you have all the hardware for your blind's width.

  3. Choose fasteners for your mounting surface: the provided 1 1/4" hexagonal head screws for wood, wall anchors or expansion bolts for drywall or plaster, and sheet metal screws for metal (anchors, bolts and metal screws are not provided).

  • Up to 37" wide: 2 installation brackets, 4 screws, 2 valance clips
  • Over 37" up to 47" wide: 3 installation brackets, 6 screws, 3 valance clips
  • Over 47" and under 60" wide: 4 installation brackets, 8 screws, 3 valance clips
  • 60" up to 75" wide: 4 installation brackets, 8 screws, 4 valance clips
  • Over 75" up to 96" wide: 5 installation brackets, 10 screws, 4 valance clips
  • Every blind: 1 wand
  • Designer crown valance with returns: 4 valance return connectors (provided only when returns are required)
  • Hold-down brackets: 2 brackets and 4 3/4" screws, only for blinds 32" wide and under

Mount the brackets

  1. Mark the bracket locations on the mounting surface, placing the end brackets 3 1/8" to 3 7/8" from each end of the headrail and spacing the others evenly.

  2. Use a level to make sure all the brackets line up.

  3. Leave the minimum distance from the front of the wall or frame to the back of the brackets for your mount type (see notes).

  4. Peel the paper off the double-sided adhesive tape on each bracket and stick the bracket at its marked location.

  5. Secure each bracket with two 1 1/4" screws, using wall anchors in drywall or plaster.

  • Inside mount without valance: brackets set 2 13/16" back from the front of the window frame
  • Inside mount with designer crown valance (no returns): brackets set 4 1/16" back from the front of the frame
  • Semi-inside mount (bracket flush to the wall), with valance and optional returns: brackets set 2 13/16" back
  • Outside mount, with valance or with valance and returns: brackets on the wall about 2" above the window opening

Install the valance clips (valance option)

  1. Snap each valance clip plug into its receptor.

  2. Attach the plug-and-receptor assemblies into the channel on the back of the valance, and attach the valance returns if you have them.

  3. Hook the receptors onto the headrail and space them evenly, keeping them clear of the drum supports, the wand tilter inside the headrail, and the brackets.

  4. Pull the valance, together with the clip plugs, off the receptors before hanging the blind, leaving the receptors on the headrail.

Install the blind

  1. Without a valance, attach the headrail directly to the brackets.

  2. With a valance, make sure the valance clip receptors are on the headrail first.

  3. Either hook the front of the headrail into the brackets first and rotate the back up until it clicks, or hook the back in first and rotate the front up until it clicks.

Attach the tilt wand

  1. If you have a split wand, push the upper piece fully into the wand connector hole.

  2. Insert the wand's tilt connector into the bottom of the headrail until it clicks.

  3. Leave the wand in place once installed; don't take it down.

Attach the valance (valance option)

  1. If you have valance returns, join each return to the valance with a valance return connector first.

  2. Decide on the final valance position.

  3. Attach the valance (with any returns) to the headrail by pushing the plugs into the receptors.

  • The valance sits in a higher position for outside and semi-inside mounts than for inside mounts.

Attach hold-down brackets (optional)

  1. Place each hold-down bracket vertically against a flat surface, parallel to the bottom rail.

  2. Line up the bracket's protruding tab with the hole on the side of the bottom rail and fasten it.

  3. Fit both ends of the bottom rail onto the hold-down brackets to keep the blind in place.

Operate the blind

  1. Tilt the slats: rotate the wand until the slats reach the angle you want.

  2. Lower the blind: open the slats to any angle, keep them even, and pull the bottom rail down by hand.

  3. Raise the blind: gently tilt the slats toward you at 45 degrees, then lift the bottom rail up by hand.

Remove the blind

  1. If you have a valance, pull it off with its clip plugs first.

  2. Insert a screwdriver into the gap at the front of the bracket and twist it to release the headrail.

  3. Tilt the headrail down and out of the brackets.
