Before you begin
Check that the parts in your package match the parts list. Some parts vary with your mounting option, whether support brackets are needed and your control options.
Choose fasteners for your mounting surface: wall anchors or expansion bolts for drywall or plaster, sheet metal screws for metal, and the included No. 6 hex head screws for wood. Anchors, bolts and sheet metal screws are not included.
Find the right-hand (R.H.) and left-hand (L.H.) brackets; they are stamped for easy identification and work for inside, outside or ceiling mounts.
For 2 1/2" slats, attach a 3/8" spacer block to the end of each bracket (standard for this size). Add a shim to the top of a bracket if needed to get it level.
- 12" to 48" wide: no center support brackets
- 48 1/8" to 60" wide: 1 center support bracket
- 60 1/8" to 120" wide: 2 center support brackets
- Mounting the brackets level is essential for the blind to work properly.
Inside mount
Screw each bracket in place through its side or top holes.
For the strongest side mount, screw through one side hole and one top hole.
Where the mounting depth is limited, screw through two diagonal side holes.
For a top mount, screw through the two top holes.
Space any center support brackets evenly between the end brackets, shifting them if needed to avoid parts inside the headrail, and attach each with screws through two diagonal holes.
- 2" slats: 1 1/8" minimum depth for the brackets, 3 1/2" for a flush-to-valance mount
- 2 1/2" slats: 1 1/8" minimum depth for the brackets, 3 7/8" for a flush-to-valance mount
Outside mount
You need a flat vertical surface at least 1 3/4" high to secure the brackets. They are screwed on through the back holes.
Mark where the ends of the headrail will sit, either by holding the headrail up and marking it, or by measuring the headrail and marking its length.
Make a second mark 1/4" outside each headrail mark for the brackets.
Line up the outside edge of each bracket with the outer marks, keeping the bracket tops aligned and level with each other.
Attach each bracket with screws through two diagonal back holes.
Space any center support brackets evenly between the end brackets (no more than 48" apart), shifting them if needed to avoid the headrail mechanisms, and attach each with screws through two diagonal holes.
Ceiling mount
Make sure there is a flat surface at least 1 3/4" high for the brackets.
Mark where the ends of the headrail will sit, either by holding the headrail up and marking it, or by measuring the headrail and marking its length.
Make a second mark 1/4" outside each headrail mark for the brackets.
For a standard ceiling mount, screw through the top holes of each bracket.
If the bracket sides are also flat against a wall, screw through the top and side holes. If the bracket backs are flat against a wall, screw through the top and back holes.
Install the blind
Open each bracket door by pressing up on the bottom of the bracket while lifting the door.
Tilt the headrail slightly backward to lower its back lip.
Slide the headrail into the brackets and push it all the way back. The front lip of the headrail should hook onto the lips of the center support brackets.
If the headrail moves left or right more than 1/8", bend the end stiffener tabs outward with a flat-head screwdriver.
Snap each bracket door shut over its locking tab.
Attach the hold-down brackets and wand
Hold-down brackets (optional): attach the brackets to the window sill or an outside surface, then lower the blind and line up the bottom rail pins with the hole or hook.
Wand: slide the plastic sleeve off the wand tip and up the metal shaft.
Slip the exposed wand hook through the hole in the tilter stem.
Push the plastic sleeve back down over the wand hook until it is secure.
On 2 1/2" blinds that use a wand adapter, insert the adapter into the tilter stem hole of the metal shaft.
Attach the valance
Lay the valance face down on a protected surface, back side up.
Insert the dovetail of each magnetic clip into the valance groove and twist it until it is straight, with the clear tabs at the top of the valance.
On valances narrower than 36", place the end clips 5 1/2" in from the ends. On valances 36" or wider, place them 10" in from the ends. Space any additional clips evenly between them.
Hold the valance from the front with both hands and set the clips on the top front lip of the headrail until the valance is level and in position.
Press the valance gently forward just until the magnets grab the headrail.
Inside mount: press the valance forward until its face is flush with the opening or the clips attach to the headrail. Outside mount: press forward until the clips attach to the headrail.
To fine-tune the height, carefully slide the clips up or down while the magnets stay on the headrail. The clip tabs rest on the headrail lip and keep the valance from going lower.
To remove the valance, gently pull it toward you.
- Up to 52" wide: 2 valance clips
- 52 1/8" to 82" wide: 3 valance clips
- 82 1/8" to 120" wide: 4 valance clips
- 120 1/8" to 150" wide: 5 valance clips
- 150 1/8" to 168" wide: 6 valance clips
Adjust the valance projection
Pulling the clips outward adds up to 1/4" of projection, which helps close the gap between an outside-mount valance return and the wall. The clips have three positions, from 5/8" fully compressed to 7/8" at the widest.
Remove the magnetic clips from the valance.
Insert a small flat-head screwdriver all the way down into the slot on one side of the magnet.
Push the screwdriver in toward the magnet, then pull out to extend the clip.
Repeat on the other side until the magnet is level.
Put the clips back into the valance groove.
Operate the blind
To tilt the slats, pull one of the two tilt cords, or rotate the wand tilter if you ordered one.
Before raising or lowering, tilt the slats open so they are flat and parallel to the headrail.
Hold the center of the bottom rail so the blind moves evenly.
Gently pull down to lower the blind or push up to raise it to the position you want.
