Before you begin

  1. Check that the blind is the correct width and length.

  2. If you are installing several blinds, match each one to its window.

  3. Check the mounting surface and make sure you have suitable fasteners and tools.

  4. Lay out and organize all parts and components.

  • Up to 48" wide: 2 end brackets, no support brackets
  • 48" to 84" wide: 2 end brackets, 1 support bracket
  • 84" to 96" wide: 2 end brackets, 2 support brackets
  • 96" to 144" wide: 2 end brackets, 3 support brackets
  • Spacer blocks or extension brackets are included only if they were ordered for added clearance. Extension brackets are also used for end-mount blinds.
  • Longer screws (not included) may be needed with extension brackets and spacer blocks.

Inside mount

  1. Position the box brackets at each end of the headrail to confirm the spacing. Box brackets can be attached through the top, back or side holes, depending on where you mount them.

  2. If one center support bracket is included, position it in the center. If more than one is included, space them evenly along the headrail.

  3. Mark the two mounting holes for each bracket, making sure the brackets are square and evenly spaced.

  4. Drill pilot holes at the pencil marks with a 1/16" drill bit.

  5. Hold each bracket in place and secure it with two screws.

  6. Check that all brackets are square with each other.

Outside mount

The back of each bracket must sit flush against a flat mounting surface. Do not mount brackets on curved molding.

  1. Position the box brackets at each end of the headrail.

  2. If one center support bracket is included, position it in the center. If more than one is included, space them evenly along the headrail.

  3. Use a level to make sure all brackets are even and aligned, then mark the two mounting holes for each bracket, keeping them square and evenly spaced.

  4. Drill pilot holes at the pencil marks with a 1/16" drill bit. Use drywall anchors when mounting into drywall.

  5. Hold each bracket in place and secure it with two screws.

  6. Use a level to check that all brackets are even and square with each other.

  • Never use more than one spacer block per bracket; stacking them could cause the blind to fall.

Install the blind

  1. Line up the headrail with the brackets, with the tilt mechanism facing out.

  2. Slide the headrail straight back into the brackets.

  3. If the headrail slides side to side in the box brackets, bend out the tabs on the ends of the headrail with a flat-head screwdriver until it fits snugly.

  4. If you have center support brackets, hook the front edge of the headrail into the channel on each bracket.

  5. Lower the front of each box bracket and press until the locking tab clicks into place.

  6. Make sure the brackets and headrail are secure before operating the blind.

Install optional components

  1. Cord cleat (corded blinds): install it following the instructions packed with the cleat, and always wrap the cords around it in a figure eight, up high and out of children's reach.

  2. Extension brackets: assemble an extension bracket onto each standard mounting bracket to clear obstructions. On outside mounts they give 2" to 4" of clearance between the headrail and the mounting surface.

  3. Spacer blocks: place a spacer block behind an outside-mount bracket for an extra 3/8" of clearance. Use longer screws (not included) if needed for a secure installation.

  4. Hold-down brackets: attach one at each side of the bottom rail so the hold-down pins keep the blind from swaying, which is ideal on doors.

  5. Tilt wand (some styles): pull up the sleeve on the tilt mechanism, clip the end of the wand onto the mechanism and pull the sleeve back down.

  6. Rotate the tilt wand in each direction to make sure it works properly.

Attach the valance

  1. Find the "Clip Here" marks on the back of the valance.

  2. Insert the valance clips into the groove on the back of the valance and rotate them so the end marked "TOP" (the arrow) points up.

  3. For returns (outside mount only), insert one end of an L-shaped return clip into the groove on the back of the return, then insert the other end into the groove on the back of the valance.

  4. Line up the clips with the slots on the bottom of the headrail and clip the valance into place.

Operate a corded blind

  1. To raise or lower the blind, pull the lift cord in toward the center of the blind to release the lock.

  2. Once the blind is at the height you want, pull the cord away from the center to lock it.

  3. To tilt the slats, pull the tilt cords up or down, or rotate the tilt wand, until the slats are where you want them.

  • The tilt and lift cords may be on the left or right side, depending on what was ordered.
  • A wand tilt is standard; tilt cords are an option.

Operate a cordless blind

  1. Press and hold the button on the bottom rail and lift or lower the blind to the position you want.

  2. Release the button to lock the blind in place.

  3. Rotate the tilt wand to open or close the slats.

Adjust the cord stops (corded blinds)

If the inner cord stops sit more than 6" below the headrail when the blind is fully lowered, move them closer.

  1. Lower the blind to its maximum desired length and lock it in place.

  2. Measure from the headrail to the cord stops. If they are 1" to 2" below the headrail, no adjustment is needed.

  3. If not, loosen (but do not untie) the knot around the cord stop.

  4. Push the cord stop and the loosened knot toward the headrail until the cord stop is 1" to 2" below it.

  5. Hold the cord stop in place and pull the cord firmly to retighten the knot.

  6. Repeat for each cord stop.

Remove the blind

  1. Raise the blind fully.

  2. Unlock and lift the front clips of each end box bracket and slide the headrail out.

  3. If center support brackets are used, lift the front of the headrail to clear the bracket channel and slide it out forward.

  4. Hold the blind firmly while removing it.
