Before you begin
Each bracket sits on an installation plate with permanent 3M mounting tape. This blind is designed for inside mount only.
Check that you have the right number of mounting brackets for your blind's width.
Leave the covers on the adhesive strips until all alignment and surface preparation steps are done.
- Up to 28" wide: 2 brackets
- 28 1/8" to 44" wide: 3 brackets
- 44 1/8" to 72" wide: 4 brackets
Prepare the surface
Make sure the surface where the brackets will go is clean, dry and flat.
Lightly rub the included alcohol pad where each bracket will attach.
Fan the spots with a magazine or piece of paper; the alcohol dries quickly.
Position and mount the brackets
Clip the brackets onto the headrail: slip the front edge of each bracket under the inner front edge of the headrail and snap the flexible tab at the bottom onto the back of the headrail.
Place a bracket about 1" to 3" from each end of the headrail, with any extra brackets spaced evenly between the two outer ones. Keep the brackets clear of the mechanisms inside the headrail.
Hold the blind in place inside the window opening and make a pencil mark at the rear of each bracket where it touches the window frame.
Remove the brackets from the headrail.
One bracket at a time, peel the thin red layer off the adhesive pad, then slowly and precisely align the bracket with its mark.
Press each bracket firmly in place for at least 60 seconds.
Install the blind
If possible, wait at least an hour (several hours is better) before hanging the blind.
Lift the headrail so the front edge of each bracket is under the inner front edge of the headrail.
Push the headrail up until the flexible tab at the bottom of each bracket snaps onto the back of the headrail.
Check carefully that every bracket is secured.
Attach the tilt wand
Find the wand ring, which is tucked inside the headrail for shipping. It should slide out when you mount the blind; if not, reach in and pull it out with your fingers.
Hook the wand onto the ring.
Operate the blind
Rotate the slats to the open, horizontal position before raising or lowering the blind.
To lower the blind, grip the bottom rail with both hands and slowly pull straight down.
To raise the blind, put both hands under the bottom rail and slowly push up.
Keep the bottom rail level as it moves.
If the blind is hard to lift
If the blind has stayed in one position for a long time, raise and lower it several times to restore normal function.
If it springs back slightly after being fully raised for a long time, slowly raise and lower it several times.
Remove the brackets
The adhesive is permanent, so removal may damage the mounting surface. Expect to do some patching and refinishing.
Insert a knife above each mounting plate and cut through the foam tape with a sawing motion. You can also use thin wire or dental floss held in both hands.
Remove leftover adhesive with your fingers or scrape it off with a putty knife.
Citrus solvents may soften the adhesive to help, but they will not dissolve it.
