Before you begin
Check that your hardware mounting kit has all the parts listed for your shade size.
Gather your tools: screwdriver, tape measure, pencil, drill, drill bits and a step ladder.
If you are mounting into drywall or plaster, get #6 plastic anchors (not included).
- 18" to 36 7/8" wide: 2 mounting brackets
- 36" to 47 7/8" wide: 3 mounting brackets
- 48" to 72" wide: 4 mounting brackets
- Up to 59 7/8" wide: 1 handle
- 60" to 72" wide: 2 handles
- One extra screw of each size is included.
- Use a 3/32" drill bit for screws and a 1/4" drill bit for wall anchors.
Clip the brackets onto the headrail
The shade can be installed inside the window frame or above the window on the wall.
Place a mounting bracket about 1" to 6" from each end of the headrail.
Space any additional brackets as evenly as possible between the two outer brackets, clear of the cords and moving parts inside the headrail.
Slide the inner front edge of the headrail into the slot at the front of each bracket.
Push the headrail up until the tab at the bottom of each bracket snaps into place at the back of the headrail.
Pull gently on the headrail to make sure it is secure.
Inside mount
With the brackets clipped on, hold the shade at the top of the window frame, flush against the surface.
With a pencil, mark where the brackets touch the inside of the window frame.
Remove the brackets from the headrail.
Pre-drill holes at the marks with a 3/32" drill bit.
Screw the brackets in place with the included screws.
Reattach the headrail to the brackets.
Outside mount
With the brackets clipped on, hold the shade at the height you want and center it over the window opening.
With a pencil, mark where the brackets touch the wall.
Remove the brackets from the headrail and position them directly on the marks.
Pre-drill holes with a 3/32" drill bit.
Screw the brackets in place with the included screws.
Reattach the headrail to the brackets.
Attach the handle
Hook the handle's clip onto the edge of the bottom rail and rotate it up until it snaps into place.
With a single handle, center it on the bottom rail.
With two handles, divide the shade's total width by four and attach each handle that distance in from the outside edges.
Operate the shade
Make sure the handles are attached securely before operating the shade.
To lower the shade, grip the bottom rail and gently pull straight down to the height you want.
To raise the shade, grip the bottom rail and slowly push it up to the height you want.
Lift slowly and evenly so one side does not get higher than the other; on extra wide shades, always use both handles.
Install the hold-down brackets (optional)
Hold-down brackets keep the shade in place when windows and doors move. Install them only if the shade will stay permanently lowered.
Fully lower the shade and mark the outside ends of the bottom rail with a pencil.
Line the brackets up with the marks and screw them in place with the 3/8" screws.
Insert the pins on the brackets into the holes at both ends of the bottom rail.
