Install the brackets

  1. Make sure the mounting surface is level. The brackets must be in line and level for the shade to work properly; shim them if needed.

  2. Inside mount: fasten each bracket with two screws, either through the side or up through the top. Make sure all brackets are level and aligned.

  3. Outside mount: fasten each bracket with two screws through the side of the bracket. Make sure all brackets are level.

  • Outside mount needs a mounting surface at least 1 3/4" tall.
  • Shades with 1 1/2" tubes can use double brackets.

Hang the shade: continuous loop

  1. Place the spring-loaded pin end into the round hole of its bracket.

  2. Keeping the pin end in place, insert the hooks on the clutch straight into the two slots in the other bracket.

  3. Once both hooks are through the slots, gently pull down on the hook side until they lock securely.

  4. Make sure the bottom of the clutch, with the chain loop, points straight down.

Hang the shade: cordless lift

  1. Leave the red lock on the shade until the shade is securely in the brackets.

  2. Angle the red-lock end of the shade so its hooks line up with the open roll bracket, and insert them.

  3. Once the hooks are in the bracket, pull the red lock off and push the shade into the bracket to lock it.

  4. Insert the spring-loaded pin on the other end of the shade into the round hole of the other bracket.

  • If you need to adjust the brackets or remove the shade, raise the shade and put the red lock back in before taking it off the brackets.

Hang the shade: Touchlift

  1. Place the idler pin end into the two vertical slots on its bracket.

  2. Keeping the idler end in place, insert the hooks on the spring end straight into the two slots in the other bracket.

  3. Once both hooks are through, gently pull down until they lock securely.

Hang the shade: motorized

  1. Tubes 1 1/2" to 2 1/2": place the spring-loaded pin end into the round hole of its bracket, then insert the hooks on the motor head straight into the two slots in the other bracket and pull down gently until they lock. The motor's reset button should face down.

  2. Tubes 3 1/4" and hardwired motors: rotate the roll so the motor's reset button faces down, then place the spring-loaded pin end into the round hole of the idler bracket.

  3. Keeping the pin end in place, line up the motor head with the slots in the motor bracket and push it fully in.

  4. Snap the ring retaining clip in place to lock the motor.

Install the end caps and cord tensioner

  1. On 1 1/2" to 2 1/2" tubes, press each end cap onto the bracket until it clicks.

  2. Continuous loop shades: before anything else, slide the universal cord tensioner to the bottom of the bead chain loop. Push a small screwdriver or awl through the screw hole at its bottom and, while pressing the release buttons on its sides, move the screw hole down to release the safety mechanism.

  3. Choose where the tensioner goes: as close to the window glass as possible, out of the path of the bottom rail and fabric.

  4. Mount the tensioner using one of the methods in the next section.

  • The shade will not operate properly unless the tensioner is correctly mounted and secured.

Mount the universal cord tensioner

Drill 1/8" pilot holes, 1 1/4" deep, into wood or metal. If there is only drywall, drill 7/32" holes and tap in the wall anchors until their flanges are flush. Use sheet metal screws for metal surfaces.

  1. Outside mount: break off the outside mount (OB) bracket. Inside mount with a bracket: break off the inside mount (IB) bracket.

  2. With the tensioner at the bottom of the bead chain loop, hold it where you want it and mark the wall or window frame at the notch in the tensioner.

  3. Hold the bracket with its center hole on the mark, mark both screw holes, drill them, and screw the bracket on with the longer screws provided.

  4. Press the tensioner's release buttons while pulling down the spring-loaded screw hole, fit the nub on the bracket into the back of the screw hole, and fasten it with the small screw provided.

  5. Inside mount without a bracket: mark at the notch, drill one hole, put a longer screw through the tensioner's screw hole, press the release buttons and pull the hole down to line up, then screw the tensioner directly to the frame. Use the bracket instead on textured or uneven surfaces.

  6. Check that the bead chain runs freely without engaging the lock. The center of the screw hole should line up with the notch in the tensioner (within 1/8"). If the chain binds, move the tensioner up; if the tensioner locks onto the chain, move it down.

  • Don't pull the screw hole all the way to the bottom of its slot; the chain becomes too tight and wears faster.
  • Don't overtighten the mounting screw when attaching the tensioner directly to the frame.
  • Use only the supplied tensioners and hardware.

Cassette top treatment: install the brackets and cassette

  1. Make sure the mounting surface is level; the brackets must be in line and level.

  2. Inside mount: measure 2 1/2" in from each side of the window frame and screw the brackets in place, level and aligned. Space any extra brackets evenly between the end brackets.

  3. Outside mount: center the shade over the window at the height and width you want and mark where each end of the cassette will be. Measure 2 1/2" in from each end mark for the end brackets, space any extra brackets evenly, and screw them in level and aligned.

  4. Medium and large curved cassettes: hook the back of the cassette onto the brackets until it clicks, swing the front up, and push until the top clip clicks into place.

  5. Square cassette: hook the top clip onto the brackets until it clicks, then swing the cassette down and push it back until the rear clip clicks into place.

Install the hold-downs (optional)

  1. Standard hold-downs (fit all bottom rails; not recommended for inside mounts): lower the shade so the bottom rail rests on the sill, press or gently tap the hold-down brackets into the holes on both ends of the bottom rail, mark the bracket locations, and screw them in level with the two screws provided.

  2. Magnetic hold-downs (only for Omni curved bottom rails with AgileLift): lower the shade to decide the hold-down position, raise the shade, mark the location, and screw the brackets in level.

  3. To adjust a magnetic bracket's height, loosen its screw and slide the bracket up or down.

  • Place magnetic hold-downs within the magnetic area measured from the edge of the bottom rail: 2" to 6" for shades under 25" wide, 2" to 12" for wider shades.

Motorized: pair the remote and set direction

  1. Wake the motor by pressing its P1 button for less than 1 second.

  2. Press P1 on the motor head for about 2 seconds until the motor jogs once and beeps once.

  3. Within 10 seconds, press and hold STOP on the remote until the motor jogs twice and beeps 3 times. Repeat the same steps to unpair.

  4. Press UP or DOWN to check the direction. To reverse it, hold UP and DOWN together for about 2 seconds until the motor jogs and beeps once.

  5. To add another remote, press P2 on the current remote until the motor jogs and beeps once, press P2 on it again until it jogs and beeps once, then press P2 on the new remote until it jogs twice and beeps 3 times.

  • Reversing direction with the remote only works before limits are set. Once limits are set, hold P1 on the motor head about 10 seconds until it jogs and beeps 3 times.
  • Honeycomb and horizontal blind motors do not beep.

Motorized: set and adjust the limits

  1. Upper limit: press UP, press STOP at the height you want, then hold UP and STOP together for about 5 seconds until the motor jogs twice and beeps 3 times.

  2. Lower limit: press DOWN, press STOP at the position you want, then hold DOWN and STOP together for about 5 seconds until the motor jogs twice and beeps 3 times.

  3. To adjust a limit later, hold UP and STOP (or DOWN and STOP) for about 5 seconds until the motor jogs and beeps once, move the shade to the new position with UP or DOWN, then hold the same two buttons about 5 seconds until it jogs twice and beeps 3 times.

  • If you leave limit setting before finishing, the motor keeps its previous limits.

Motorized: favorite position, modes, speed and remote settings

  1. Set a favorite position: move the shade there, hold P2 on the back of the remote until the motor jogs and beeps once, hold STOP until it jogs and beeps once, then press STOP again until it jogs twice and beeps 3 times.

  2. Go to the favorite position by holding STOP for about 2 seconds. To remove it, press P2, then STOP, then STOP again until the motor gives a long beep.

  3. Switch between roller mode (continuous travel on a short press, the default) and sheer mode (small steps on a short press): hold UP and DOWN for about 5 seconds until the motor jogs, then hold STOP for about 2 seconds.

  4. Change motor speed: press P2, then UP twice to speed up or DOWN twice to slow down. No response means it is already at maximum or minimum.

  5. Select channels with the < and > buttons. To hide unused channels, hold < and > together about 3 seconds until the display shows C, pick the number of channels (1 to 15), and press STOP.

  6. After programming, open the remote's back cover and move the lock switch to Lock (display shows L) to prevent accidental changes to direction, limits and mode. Move it to Unlock (U) to restore all functions.

Motorized: charging, battery and troubleshooting

  1. Internal battery motor: when the motor beeps during use, plug its micro-USB port into a 5V/2A charger. Blinking red means low battery, blinking green means charging, solid green means fully charged.

  2. External battery pack: when it stops running from low voltage, plug the pack's micro-USB port into a 5V/2A charger. Solid red means charging, solid green means done.

  3. To replace the remote battery, push the included ejector tool into the pinhole, slide the cover off, insert a CR2450 battery positive side up, and slide the cover back until it clicks.

  • Motor beeps 10 times in use: the battery is low; recharge it or check the solar panel's connection and position.
  • No response: recharge the motor, check the solar panel, replace the remote battery, keep the remote and antenna away from metal, move closer, and check power and wiring on hardwired motors.
  • Won't program: press P1 on the motor for 2 seconds to enter pairing mode. To program one motor at a time, put the others to sleep by holding P1 about 6 seconds until they jog and beep twice.

Remove the shade

  1. Tubes 1 1/2" to 2 1/2", continuous loop, motorized and Touchlift: raise the shade, lift the hook end until the hooks touch the top of the bracket slots, slide the roll toward the pin end until the hooks are out, then lift the pin end out of its bracket.

  2. Tubes 3 1/4" and hardwired motors: raise the shade, remove the ring retaining clip, slide the roll toward the pin end until the motor head clears its bracket, then remove the pin end.

  3. Cordless lift: with the red lock handy, push the pin end in with a screwdriver or pointed tool to free that side. Keeping the hook side in its bracket, pull the shade toward you just enough to put the red lock back on, then take the shade out. Only remove it once the spring side is locked.

  4. Medium and large cassettes: push a flathead screwdriver into the top clip and twist to release it, then swing the front of the cassette down and off.

  5. Square cassette: push the cassette toward the wall to release the clip, lower the back, and swing the cassette out.
