Before you begin

  1. If the shade is bound, leave the binding on until the shade is installed in the window.

  2. Double-check the headrail width. If you are installing several shades, match each one to its window.

  3. Check your mounting surface and make sure you have suitable fasteners and tools; use drywall anchors (not provided) in drywall.

  4. Lay out and organize all the parts.

  5. Before marking any bracket locations, make sure the brackets won't interfere with components inside the headrail.

  • Up to 38" wide: 2 brackets
  • Over 38" to 68" wide: 3 brackets
  • Over 68" to 82" wide: 4 brackets
  • Over 82" to 106" wide: 5 brackets
  • Over 106" to 130" wide: 6 brackets
  • Over 130" wide: 7 brackets

Cordless and cord loop: inside mount brackets

  1. Check that the window casing is at least 1/2" deep for a partially recessed mount, or at least 2 1/8" deep for a flush (fully recessed) mount.

  2. Mark the bracket locations 1" to 2" from each jamb.

  3. With a pencil, mark through the long oblong holes on the top of each bracket, 2 holes per bracket.

  4. If you have more than two brackets, space the extra ones evenly between the end brackets, no more than 30" apart, and mark their holes.

  5. On wood or metal, pre-drill the screw holes with a 1/16" drill bit.

  6. Hold each bracket with the side marked "Top" facing up, line up its oblong holes with your holes and secure it with 2 screws.

  7. Make sure all the brackets are square with each other.

Cordless and cord loop: outside mount brackets

  1. Center the headrail over the window opening at the height you want and lightly mark each end, or measure the headrail and mark its end points over the opening.

  2. Mark the bracket locations about 1" to 2" in from each end mark, leaving at least 1/4" between the bottom of the bracket and the top of the window molding.

  3. Mark the screw locations through the larger oblong rear holes of each bracket (or extension bracket), 2 screws per bracket, using a level to keep the brackets aligned.

  4. If you have more than two brackets, space the extra ones evenly between the end brackets, no more than 30" apart, and mark their holes.

  5. Pre-drill the screw holes with a 1/16" drill bit. Use drywall anchors in drywall.

  6. If you are using a spacer block, place it behind the bracket.

  7. Hold each bracket with the side marked "Top" facing up, line it up with your holes and secure it with 2 screws.

  8. Check with a level that all the brackets are level.

  • The back of each bracket must sit flush against a flat surface. Do not mount brackets on curved molding.

Cordless and cord loop: hang the shade

  1. Hang the curved front of the headrail on the front lip of the brackets.

  2. Rotate the headrail back toward the window until it snaps into each bracket.

  3. Cordless: snap the operating handle onto the front of the bottom rail. On a top-down/bottom-up shade, snap a handle onto the middle rail too.

  4. Cord loop: install the cord tension device (next section).

Cord loop: install the tension device

Cord loop shades arrive with the tension device already on the cord. The shade won't operate properly unless the tension device is installed.

  1. Slide the cord tensioner down to the bottom of the cord loop.

  2. In drywall or plaster, drill with a 3/16" drill bit and insert 1/2" wall anchors (not included). In metal, use anchors made for metal.

  3. Screw the tension device to the wall or window frame with the screws provided, keeping the cord loop taut but with enough slack for the cord to slide through easily.

Motorized: pair and charge before installing

  1. On the remote, use the - and + buttons to select the channel to pair.

  2. Press and hold the programming button on the shade's headrail for about 2 seconds until the shade jogs once.

  3. Within 10 seconds, press and hold the pairing button on the remote until the shade jogs twice.

  4. If you bought a hub, download the LEVOLOR InMotion app. The shade can pair directly with the app, but pairing with the remote first is recommended.

  5. Fully charge the shade before first use: connect the micro-USB charging cable and power adapter to the magnetic charging adapter, then attach it to the headrail's charging port. You can also remove the magnetic charging insert and plug the micro-USB cable in directly.

  • Indicator light: red flash means low battery, green flash means charging, solid green means charged.
  • The rechargeable battery is built into the headrail.

Motorized: inside mount brackets

  1. Mark the bracket locations 2" in from each jamb, mounting into wood whenever possible. Space any extra brackets evenly between the end brackets.

  2. Center each bracket on its mark and mark the screw hole: use the center hole when depth allows, or the hole in the upper rear corner of the bracket for shallow openings.

  3. Drill the screw holes with a 3/32" drill bit, using drywall anchors in drywall.

  4. Attach the brackets with the screws provided, 1 screw per bracket, and make sure they are square with each other.

  • Minimum depth for the brackets: 1 1/4"
  • Minimum depth for a fully recessed (flush) mount: 2 1/4"
  • The bracket diagram shows a minimum of 15" for the battery wand.

Motorized: outside mount brackets

  1. Center the headrail over the window opening at the height you want and lightly mark each end, or measure the headrail and mark its end points.

  2. Mark the bracket locations about 1" to 2" in from each end mark, leaving at least 1/4" between the bottom of the bracket and the top of the window molding. Space any extra brackets evenly, no more than 30" apart.

  3. Center the brackets on your marks with their tops at the shade height you want, level and aligned, and mark the screw holes: 1 screw per installation bracket, or 2 per extension bracket.

  4. Drill the screw holes with a 3/32" drill bit, using drywall anchors in drywall.

  5. Attach the installation or extension brackets with the screws provided, with their front edges level and aligned.

  6. If you are using spacer blocks, attach them with the brackets to a flat vertical surface using #6 screws long enough for a secure hold, with the top of the spacer blocks at the shade height. Spacer blocks and shims may be stacked.

  7. If you are using extension brackets, attach an installation bracket to the underside of each with the screws and speed nuts provided.

  • A flat vertical surface at least 1 1/4" tall is needed for the brackets, and the back of each bracket must sit flush against it. Do not mount on curved molding.
  • No more than 1 1/2" of added clearance with spacer blocks and shims is recommended.

Motorized: hang the headrail

  1. Fit the front channel on top of the headrail onto the front lip of the brackets.

  2. Push the headrail up and back until it snaps into place.

  3. Check that the bottom of the headrail is snapped into the base of each bracket and that each bracket's front lip is in the headrail's front channel. If not, release the shade and reinstall it.

Attach the valance and optional components

  1. Motorized: pair the remote before installing the valance.

  2. Hook the top of the valance over the top lip of the headrail, then carefully press it down and back until it clips into place.

  3. Outside mount: fold the valance returns around the ends of the headrail and press firmly so the hook-and-loop strips engage.

  4. Extension brackets (optional): assemble one onto each standard mounting bracket to gain 1" to 3" of clearance between the headrail and the mounting surface for an outside mount.

  5. Spacer blocks (optional): use one behind each outside mount bracket to add 3/8" of clearance, with longer screws (not provided) if needed.

  6. Hold-down brackets (optional, ideal for doors): attach one to each side of the bottom rail to keep the shade from swaying.

  • Cordless and cord loop shades: never use more than one spacer block per bracket, or the shade could fall.

Operate the shade

  1. Cordless bottom-up: grasp the bottom rail handle and pull down to lower or push up to raise. Let go and the shade stays in place.

  2. Cordless top-down/bottom-up: use the middle rail handle to move the top of the shade and the bottom rail handle to move the bottom, pushing up or pulling down. Let go and the shade stays in place.

  3. Continuous cord loop: pull one side of the loop to lower the shade and the other side to raise it.

  4. Motorized: use the remote; see the guide that came with your remote.

Adjust alignment and folds

The roman bar clips on the back of the shade are self-aligning but can shift over time, making the shade raise unevenly.

  1. Lower the shade fully.

  2. Find where the cord runs in the top of the headrail, behind the shade.

  3. On the back of the shade, adjust by hand any roman bar clips that are out of vertical line with that cord location.

  • Motorized: if the shade raises unevenly, first lower it completely to let it self-correct, and check that the headrail and brackets are level (shim if needed).

Remove the shade

  1. Cordless and cord loop: fully raise the shade. Push down on the bracket's spring tab with a flathead screwdriver and rotate the front of the headrail; then, while pushing back on the headrail, rotate its front up. Never force the spring tab beyond the back of the brackets.

  2. Motorized: lower the shade about 4". Holding the headrail, push back on the bottom tab of each bracket to release the bottom edge of the headrail, then roll the back of the headrail down and out of the bracket.

  3. Hold the shade firmly while removing it so it doesn't fall.
