Before you begin
Install the shade before you try to operate the motor.
Check that your installation kit contains all the parts listed.
Use a 5/64" drill bit to pre-drill screw holes into a wall stud or header board.
For wallboard or plaster, use anchors designed for hollow walls (not included). For concrete, stone or brick, use a masonry drill bit and masonry anchors or screws (not included).
- Up to 36" wide: 2 brackets, 2 screws (1 1/4") and 2 screws (3/4")
- 36" to 48" wide: 3 brackets, 3 screws (1 1/4") and 3 screws (3/4")
- 48" to 96" wide: 4 brackets, 4 screws (1 1/4") and 4 screws (3/4")
- 96" to 120" wide: 5 brackets, 5 screws (1 1/4") and 5 screws (3/4")
Outside mount
Plan for one bracket about 2" to 6" from each end of the headrail. On wider shades that need 3 or more brackets, space the extras evenly between the two outer brackets.
Hold the shade in place and mark the bracket locations with a pencil. Use a spirit level to make sure the brackets will be level.
The brackets attach to the bottom of the headrail, so mount them to the wall or window frame first: pre-drill with a 5/64" bit and screw them in place.
Set the headrail on the brackets, center the shade over the window opening and mark each bracket's mounting hole on the headrail.
Pierce the fabric at each mark with the tip of a screw, then pre-drill the holes with a 5/64" bit.
Fasten the shade to the brackets with the 3/4" screws provided.
Inside mount
No brackets are used; the headrail has pre-drilled mounting holes.
Drive the 1 1/4" screws into the headrail holes until the tips poke out just slightly above the top of the headrail.
Line up the front of the shade with the front edge of the window opening (or where you prefer), centered in the opening.
Push up on the screws so their tips leave small marks in the top of the window frame.
Lower the shade and pre-drill at the marks with a 5/64" bit.
Lift the shade back into place and screw it to the frame.
Operate the shade
Follow the separate programming and operating instructions that came with your shade to pair and operate the motor and remote.
