Before you begin
Check that the mounting hardware kit is complete.
For wallboard or plaster, get wall anchors (not included).
For concrete, stone or brick, get a masonry drill bit and masonry anchors or screws (not included).
Motorized shades: install the shade before you try to operate the motor.
- 24" to 60" wide: 3 brackets
- 60" to 90" wide: 4 brackets
- Over 90" wide: 5 brackets
Inside mount
Position a bracket about 2" to 6" from each end of the headrail and space the other bracket(s) evenly between them.
Pre-drill the screw holes with a 5/64" drill bit.
Screw each bracket to the inside top of the window opening with the screws provided.
For a flush inside mount, clip the brackets onto the headrail first, hold the shade in the opening where you want it and mark the back of each bracket with a pencil; then take the brackets off, line them up with the marks and screw them in place.
Outside mount
Position a bracket about 2" to 6" from each end of the headrail and space the other bracket(s) evenly between them.
Pre-drill the screw holes with a 5/64" drill bit.
Screw the brackets to the wall or window framing, using a spirit level to make sure they are level. On chain shades these are L-shaped brackets.
Chain shades: attach an inside mount bracket to each L-bracket by placing its long slot over the tab on the L-bracket and twisting it to lock.
Slide the bracket forward or back (about 3/4" of travel) to fine-tune how far the headrail sits from the wall.
Secure the headrail
Fit the ridge on the top front of the headrail into the front of each bracket.
Push the headrail up until the metal tabs on the back of the brackets snap onto the back of the headrail.
Install the chain tension device (chain shades)
The tension device must be installed for the shade to work properly.
Carefully unwrap the chain and tension device, then cut and remove the zip-tie.
Holding the tension device in one hand, pull the plunger away from the bead chain, lift the chain out of the bead locking groove and slide the device to the bottom of the chain loop.
Pull the device down until the chain is fully tensioned (the plunger will be at the top), then move it up about 1/8".
Mark the screw locations on the wall or window frame with a pencil.
Inside mount: pre-drill into wood and attach the tension device with the 1" Phillips head screws; if not mounting into wood, use anchors suited to the surface.
Outside mount: line the tension device bracket up with the marks, pre-drill into wood and attach it with the 1" Phillips head screws (or use suitable anchors).
Outside mount: press the tension device onto the bracket posts and fasten it with the 3/8" Phillips head screws using a screwdriver. Do not over-tighten.
Operate the shade (chain)
Pull the chain smoothly and slowly in one direction to raise the shade and in the other direction to lower it.
- If the fabric rolls against the window, the front chain raises the shade.
- If the fabric rolls toward the room, the rear chain raises the shade.

Press UP on the remote; the motor jogs once to confirm the remote is linked.
