Before you begin
Install the shade before you try to operate the motor.
If you are mounting into hollow drywall or plaster, get wall anchors (not included).
If your shade comes pre-mounted in a decorative aluminum cover (cassette valance), follow the cassette instructions below instead of mounting the separate brackets.
Mount the brackets
Identify the brackets: the motor-end bracket has a tab that fits into the motor housing, and the pin-end bracket has a slot that the shade's pin end slides into.
Hold each bracket in place on the window frame, molding or ceiling and mark the screw locations with a pencil.
Pre-drill the screw holes with a 5/64" drill bit when attaching to a wall stud or header board.
Screw the brackets in place.
Install a cassette valance shade
The shade comes pre-mounted in the cassette. It can be removed from the cassette to adjust the tension if needed.
For an outside mount, screw the mounting brackets to the wall through their rear holes.
For an inside or ceiling mount, screw the mounting brackets up into the top of the opening or ceiling through their top holes.
Slide the groove at the back-bottom of the headrail into the bottom of each mounting bracket.
Push the headrail forward and up until it snaps into the top of each bracket.
Operate the shade
Follow the dedicated programming and operating instructions that came with your shade. If you can't find them, contact Customer Service.
