Before you begin

  1. Check your mounting hardware kit against the parts list.

  2. Decide whether you will mount the shade inside or outside the window frame.

  3. For wallboard or plaster, use the wall anchors. For concrete, stone or brick, use a masonry drill bit and masonry anchors or screws (not included).

  • Shades up to 45" wide: 2 mounting brackets, 2 extension brackets, 4 screws, 4 wall anchors
  • Shades up to 72" wide: 3 mounting brackets, 3 extension brackets, 6 screws, 6 wall anchors

Inside mount

  1. Place one bracket about 2" to 6" from each end of the headrail, and space any extra brackets evenly between the two outer ones.

  2. Pre-drill the screw holes with a 5/64" drill bit.

  3. Screw each bracket to the inside top of the window opening with the screws provided. Extension brackets are not used for inside mounts.

  4. For a flush inside mount, first snap the brackets onto the headrail, hold the shade in the opening where you want it and mark the back of each bracket.

  5. Remove the brackets by pressing their plastic tabs, line them up with the marks and screw them in place.

Outside mount

  1. Place the extension brackets on the wall or window framing, one about 2" to 6" from each end of the headrail and any extras spaced evenly between them.

  2. Pre-drill the screw holes with a 5/64" drill bit and screw the extension brackets in place.

  3. Make sure the brackets are level; use a spirit level if needed.

  4. Attach a mounting bracket to each extension bracket with the nut and bolt pre-attached to the extension bracket.

  5. To change how far the headrail sticks out, remove the shade by pressing the plastic tabs on the front of the brackets, loosen the nut and bolt, and slide the mounting brackets forward or back.

Secure the headrail

  1. Slide the inner rear of the headrail onto the metal tabs at the back of each bracket.

  2. Push up until the brackets snap onto the headrail.

  3. Lock the brackets by pulling the plastic tab on the front of each one outward toward the front of the shade. For inside mounts, grasp the tabs with pliers.

  4. Check carefully that each bracket is properly secured.

Attach the safety cord guide

The cord guide must be attached for the shade to work properly. It comes pre-attached to the cord control and can be mounted to the window frame or wall, inside or outside the opening.

  1. Adjust the cord so the cord guide sits at the bottom of the cord loop and hangs freely, without twisting or crossing the cord or bead chain.

  2. Compress the spring by hand so the chain moves freely through the U-shaped channel. The base can be mounted vertically, horizontally or at an angle, and the U-shaped guide swivels to any position.

  3. Hold the guide against the frame or wall, move it up at least 1/4" and mark the screw holes with a pencil.

  4. Pre-drill with a 3/32" bit for a solid surface, or drill with a 1/4" bit and insert the provided wall anchors for hollow drywall.

  5. Secure the base of the cord guide with two of the 1-1/4" screws provided.

  • Install the cord guide so the cord hangs loosely. This helps the clutch work best and lets the cord connector pass through the guide easily.

Operate the shade

  1. Pull the lift cord to raise or lower the shade.
